NEW BUILDING FOR GURU NANAK INSTITUTION

Khalsa Diwan Malaysia has just completed putting up the new 3-storey block, is spite of the economic downturn of the Malaysian economy. Work on the project has started in 2008, and completed by the end of April 2010. What a relief.

The Gurdwara Directory and Societies Directory is updated.. We request the respective Gurdwara committees to e-mail their phone numbers to us. 1MALAYSIA VESAKHI OPEN HOUSE IN IPOH - 2010

Khalsa Diwan Malaysia took an active part in organising of the 1-Malaysia Vesakhi Open House 2010 held in Ipoh on 23.4.2010.

The Honorable Prime Minister was the Guest at the Open House. The Chief Minister of Perak was also in attendance.

The programme was organised by the Union of Perak Sikh Organisation.

Children from the Punjabi Education Centres not only welcomed the Prime Minister, but performed various dance and song numbers on stage.

We take this opportunity to thank the Punjabi Education Centres of Perak, Penang and Kedah for their support.

The Representatives of Khalsa Diwan Malaysia are also involved with other State and Federal level bodies.

Under the 1Malaysia government plan, the following Punjabi Education Centres have benefited:

1.    Johore Bahru    A Rm.150,000.00 annual grant for all Punjabi Education Centres in Johore;

2.    Seremban        A Rm. 50,000.00 annual grant for the Punjabi Education Centre Seremban,

3.    Penang            An undisclosed amount of money for the Punjabi Education Centres in Penang, Bayan Baru, and Butterworth.

Other State and Punjabi Education bodies are making representations to the State Governments for similar aid.

Let's hope the Community take advantage of this, and further strenthen the teaching and learning of our mother tongue.
